The details

What makes it English

Four details give it its shape.

  1. The shoulder

    SHOULDER Padded, raised

Light padding squares the shoulder, and the top of the sleeve is slightly raised. The result is a strong, clean line.

  2. The build

    BUILD Full canvas

A layer of wool and horsehair runs through the whole front of the jacket. It holds the shape and moulds to you as you wear it.

  3. The waist

    WAIST Fitted

Shaped in at the waist, with a slight flare over the hip. High armholes let you move your arms without the jacket lifting.

  4. The pockets and vents

    VENTS Two

Two deep vents at the back keep it neat when you sit. Slanted pockets, with a small extra pocket if you like.

Questions

Questions about the English suit

Where can I find an English suit tailor in Dubai?

At The Bespoke Corner in Business Bay. We draw your pattern by hand and fit the suit until it is right. We can also bring the fabric books to your home or office.

How is an English suit different from an Italian suit?

The English suit is more structured, with padded shoulders and a fitted waist. The Italian is softer. Choose English for a sharper, more formal look.

Is a structured suit too warm for Dubai?

The fabric matters more than the structure. Tasmanian Navy works for most of the year, and Chocolate Flannel for winter and travel.
