The details

What makes a bandhgala

Four details give it its shape.

  1. The collar

    COLLAR Mandarin

A standing collar that closes at the neck, with no shirt collar or tie underneath. Close-fitting but comfortable.

  2. The front

    FRONT One row of buttons

One row of buttons from the collar down. Brass, horn, enamel or fabric-covered: each changes the look.

  3. The cut

    CUT Tailored, hip length

Made like a suit jacket, with a shaped chest, a fitted waist and clean shoulders. It ends at the hip, with vents.

  4. The trousers

    TROUSERS Straight or churidar

Matching straight trousers make it a Jodhpuri suit. Churidar give a more traditional look.

Questions

Questions about the bandhgala

Where can I get a bandhgala made in Dubai?

At The Bespoke Corner in Business Bay, in a fabric such as Ivory Raw Silk or Midnight Barathea. Fittings in the showroom or at your home.

What is the difference between a bandhgala and a sherwani?

The length. A bandhgala ends at the hip; a sherwani falls to the knee or below and is usually kept for the wedding itself.

Can a groom wear a bandhgala?

Yes, at the sangeet, the reception or the ceremony. Ivory raw silk for a celebration, midnight barathea for an evening reception.

When should I order a bandhgala for a wedding?

Allow about 6 to 8 weeks. Give us the date when you book and we will plan the fittings around it.
